'gazuky' is the online alter ego of Gary Dring, a comedy writer and podcaster. He lives in Birmingham, UK but was born in Stamford, Lincolnshire.
He began his first podcast - Clever Little Pod - in July 2005 when only a handful of Brits were podcasting, months before the BBC and commercial radio stations were offering their own downloadable shows. The show continues to be popular, receiving a minimum of 1000 downloads per episode, and received a favourable review from broadcaster Lynn Parsons in Podcast User Magazine. (Large PDF - right-click download preferable.)
In 2007, gazuky was asked to produce a script for a 45-minute DVD of comedy sketches relating to work-life balance that could be used to promote the business advantages to employers.
In September 2007, he produced a spoof social networking site 'bugroff.net' that was aimed to amuse people who were fed up with the plethora of requests to join social networking sites. This 'anti-social networking' site was basically a plea to be left alone, and provided no opportunity to join up to anything. In fact, it actively discouraged it. The spoof page received 120,000 hits on its most popular day and received much favourable comment on blogs across the web.
2008 saw a second podcast launch - Topical Pish - that spoofs celebrity news bulletins.
gazuky also continues to work on sitcom and sketch projects that he intends to pitch to independent producers. |
