Why do I podcast?

Why do I spend hours each month writing, editing and performing a piece of audio, only to give it away for free? Well, there are 3 reasons. Number one is that it's great fun. Number two is that it allows me as a writer to see the creative process through to a finished product, with complete control over its delivery. And number three is that it gives me an audience. That's why I podcast.

Creative Stuff I've Attempted

Hospital Radio
Hospital Radio can be fun because it gives you a chance to experiment with the medium. I produced and presented a kids' show for two years which was very rewarding as parents find it very difficult visiting day after day, and so appreciate the diversion you are creating.

Radio Ad Script Writing
I spent some time writing radio ads for a large commercial station which was a useful experience in (a) writing to deadlines and (b) writing for clients. Creatively it can be quite restrictive, especially when you have just 30 seconds and have to include a phone number and address.

Death Bang Zoo
Death Bang Zoo was a non-broadcast pilot made for Channel 4 by Fit2Fill productions in 2000. It featured fairly manky-looking puppets doing adult stand-up in a smoky comedy club. I submitted material for a 10-minute show, and got about 3 minutes accepted into the final cut.

Speaking...
This is the title of my 30-minute TV sitcom. It's set in a call-centre and focuses on the lives of the poor saps who are brain-washed into toeing the corporate line.
The Trouble with Lucy
A submission to the 'Old & New Fusion' project at channel4radio.com, this is a humorous adaptation of the poem 'Lucy' by William Wordsworth. Every other line has been re-written to give the poem a very different meaning.
Spoof Advert
Originally written for Clever Little Pod, this spoof ad was turned into a viral video by Martin Baker and used to promote both CLP and Lynn Parsons' podcast.
